Eric Kaplovitch- Outgoing Director

Eric has been a certified tennis instructor since 2004. Teaching both publicly and privately, he has instructed students from age 3 to adult. He has been involved with Serve 4 Success since its inception, and has been fortunate enough to serve as Director since 2007. Eric graduated with a degree in Life Sciences at Queen’s University in Kingston, and is currently studying at the University of Toronto Medical School. His favourite tennis players are Pete Sampras and Martina Navratilova.


David Warshafsky- Incoming Director

David, a certified tennis instructor since 2008, is coming back to Serve 4 Success this year as the Incoming Director. He  is also an instructor with the Doug Philpott Inner-City Children’s Tennis Fund, returning this summer for his second year. After successfully founding his first business (YouToo CompTutoring) last summer, David is currently working at CIBC as a Summer Student in the Control Division . David is currently studying at Queen’s University in the Commerce Program, entering his third year. His favourite tennis players are James Blake and Milos Raonic.

Jeffrey Warshafsky – Founder, Instructor

Jeff has been a certified tennis instructor since 2004. He founded Serve 4 Success in 2006, directed the program until 2008, and has been an instructor with the program ever since. He has also taught tennis at the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club. Jeff graduated Harvard Law School during May 2011. His favourite tennis players are Roger Federer and Martina Navratilova.


Dave Kogan- Instructor

David has been a certified tennis instructor since 2005. He instructed at the York University Tennis Camp for 2 years prior to joining the Serve4Success team this summer. David is currently going into his 3rd year at the Schulich School of Business, pursuing a double specialization in finance and economics. His favourite tennis players are John McEnroe, Michael Chang, and Patrick Rafter.


Michael Steele- Instructor

Michael has been a certified tennis instructor for over a year. He taught tennis at Don Mills Tennis club during the summer of 2009, teaching kids ranging from 4-12. He has participated in several provincial tournaments and played on his school team for four years. His favourite tennis player is Roger Federer.

Dalia Amrom- Instructor

Dalia developed her interest in tennis in Israel. Upon moving to Canada in 2007, she continued her love for tennis by becoming an instructor at the BJCC. She is currently studying medical sciences at York University. Her favourite tennis players are Pete Sampras and Shahar Peer.

Corey Stein- Instructor

Corey has previously taught kids aged 6-14 at Camp B’nai Brith of Ottawa for the previous 5 summers.  He has a degree in Life Sciences from Queen’s University and is currently in his 3rd year of Medicine at the University of Toronto.  His favourite tennis players are Roger Federer and Martina Hingis.

Ryan Fox- Teacher

Ryan developed a keen interest in the sport of tennis as a child. He participated in many youth tennis programs, and is thrilled to be able to pass on what he was taught. Ryan is entering his fourth year of Electrical Engineering at the University of Western Ontario and hopes to eventually earn a doctorate in the field. His favourite tennis player is Andy Roddick as well as any/everybody who defeats Andy Murray.


Michael Warshafsky- Teacher, Volunteer Coordinator

Michael is excited to join the Serve 4 Success team this summer. Michael has coached children of all ages in many sports including hockey and baseball. On his own teams, he has repeatedly led his teams to success. After graduating high school, he plans to attend Queen’s University this fall. His favourite tennis players are John Isner and Roger Federer.




Alex Vertes- Teacher

Alex is eager to start teaching as a Serve 4 Success volunteer. He is a strong tennis player with a broad knowledge of tennis fundamentals. He has competed in many club tournaments and led his school varsity team to multiple titles. Growing up Alex has learned the key parts of the game and looks forward to passing them on. Alex has played tennis across the globe, but looks forward to returning to home court. Alex will be attending Guelph University in the fall. Alex’s favourite tennis player is the American Andy Roddick.

Lianne Trachtenberg- Teacher

Lianne is very excited to be joining the Serve 4 Success team this summer. Over the last six years, Lianne has taught kids aged 6-13 tennis at Upper Canada College Summer Camp and St. Clements Tennis Club. In June 2010, Lianne received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Health Studies from Queen’s University and began her Master’s degree in Psychology at University of Toronto that Fall. Her favourite tennis players are Roger Federer and Andy Roddick.

Matthew Freiman- Fundraising Coordinator

Matthew is a certified tennis instructor and has taught tennis to children ages 7-14. He has a business degree from McGill University and is currently working at Onex Corporation in Toronto. Before joining Onex, Matthew worked at Goldman Sachs in the investment banking division for two years in New York City.
